There’s a Japanese concept I’ve always found deeply moving…it’s called Ikigai.
It roughly translates to “a reason for being.” But it’s so much more than that. Ikigai is the intersection of four core elements:
What you love
What you’re good at
What the world needs
What you can be paid for
It’s not just about your career or your calling. It’s about waking up in the morning with a quiet sense of purpose. A feeling of meaning that flows through your days. And not as something you chase, but something you embody. It’s the work only you can do in the world, the joy only you can feel, the life only you are here to live.
When I first came across the idea of Ikigai, I was still living in a way that felt outwardly “successful,” but inwardly hollow. I was doing what I was good at. I was getting paid well. I was learning and growing, yes… but the passion was fading. The deeper sense of meaning–the connection to what I truly needed, what I loved, and how I was meant to serve–was missing.
Like so many high-achieving women I now work with, I was following the formulas we were given for “success”… but I was burned out, disconnected, and craving something real. Something alive. Something that didn’t just check the boxes, but lit me up from the inside out.
That journey of turning inward to find alignment again is what led me to this work. And now, it’s what I help other women do, too. Because the truth is, your purpose doesn’t live in your résumé. It lives in your being.
And when you reconnect with your feminine energy…your intuition, your desires, your inner wisdom…you begin to remember it. You begin to feel your own version of Ikigai. Not a grand epiphany or overnight clarity, but a slow, sacred unfolding. A returning.
So if you’re in a season of searching, or realignment, or even just a quiet whisper of “there has to be more…”, let this concept be a gentle guide.
What do you love?
What comes naturally to you?
What are you drawn to offer the world?
And how might all of that lead you back to you?
Your purpose is not something you have to force. It’s something you uncover…by coming home to yourself first.
If you’re in a season of rediscovery or feeling called to reconnect with your own sense of purpose, this is the heart of the work I do. I guide women back to their natural rhythms, so they can uncover what truly lights them up and lead from that place.
If this speaks to you, I’d love to connect. You can explore my coaching offerings on my website, and if it feels aligned, I invite you to book a complimentary discovery call. It’s a space to explore what’s calling you forward—and how we might work together to bring it to life.
